NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 across Australia. It measures progress in Reading, Writing, Language Conventions, and Numeracy. NAPLAN helps identify strengths and areas for improvement in each student's learning journey.
Regular NAPLAN practice with past papers and online practice tests helps students become familiar with the test format, question types, and time constraints. Building skills in reading comprehension, writing, numeracy, and language conventions gives students confidence and identifies areas for improvement before test day.
NAPLAN tests include Reading (comprehension passages), Writing (persuasive or narrative tasks), Numeracy (problem-solving and calculations), and Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar, punctuation).
NAPLAN tests are held in March each year, typically over a two-week period. NAPLAN 2026 dates will be confirmed by schools, who notify families of exact test dates and the testing schedule. Check with your child's school for specific NAPLAN dates.
